Giblet Envy

25 Jun

Here are some things I have seen which are birds in the last week I seen them.

Mostly near Pagham Harbour and Warblington. No links today. Search for them yourselves. You are not worth my effort.

And I heard a cuckoo near Pagham Harbour. But I couldn’t photo the noise. You filth horse.

Goldfinch about to ram raid a Spar and nick all the fags and sell them down the pub. £1 a packet. To feed it's skag habit. I'm not judging or anything. But, goldfinch is an anagram of golf dinch. So we shouldn't be so surprised.

Great White Egret

31 Aug

Today I gone to Blashford Lakes and seen lots of things including a great white egret. It would have been good but my back hurts and there were lots of people there and some spoke to me and I was all like “Yes, I am baldmonkey off of baldmonkeyseenabird.” and “No, you cannot have my autograph I hate you for having an awful hobby like birdwatching when you are clearly capable of talking to other people. You disgust me.”

I’ve just got back from a holiday in Wales for seening birds ineffectually. There’s a lot to get through so you should read fast to maximise enjoyings.

First I stopped on the way to seen Warwick Castle I seen birds but apparently the first two don’t count because they are really counterfeit not existing birds from forrins.

Then I gone to Puffin Island by being boated from Beaumaris. (Go with Beaumaris Marine Services not the other one. Beaumaris Marine Services are very very very very good and have RSPB people on board and are good.) I seen a black guillemot but was too slow to do a photo of it. These are the other things I seen. I also seen two harbour porpoises but although they ARE mammals, they are NOT bird-mammals. They are fish-mammals.

Pagham Havocet

6 Jun

Today I gone to Pagham Harbour to seen the avocets that the RSPB Handbook of British Birds (Second Edition) says should be Northerned by now.

avocets

As you can see, I have now mastered my new lens:

shelduck black tailed-godwits avocets and mallards

Then I seen a blackbird. Blackbirds are not actually black. They are a vivid red. The black is an optical illusion to prevent social diseases.

Female Ring Ouzel?

21 Jul

I think I just seen a female ring ouzel on my garage roof. It might just be a female blackbird though. This is more likely because birdwatching is boring and seening a ring ouzel would nearly be interesting. I know it is definitely female, though, because it has its stupid fat beak stuffed full of food.

Is this a ring ouzel on my garage roof?

Pied Flycatcher?

26 May

I been out Beaulieu Heath way. I got lost and couldn’t find my car again. Then I found my car. Now I am tired.

Anyway, I seen a thing and I thought the thing was a pied flycatcher but I didn’t get a very good picture and I am not sure if it is a pied flycatcher do you think it is a pied flycatcher? (edit: thanks to Wanstead Birder and Early Worm Birder for their help. Consensus seems to be that it is a pied flycatcher, so I’m crossing it off the list.) (double edit: but then Fat paul scholes came along to piss on my bonfire and point out that it could easily be a male stonechat. So I’m uncrossing-it-off. Or crossing it on. Whatever the right wordenology is.)

Is this a pied flycather?

Nearby was a bird that I think was a linnet but with the wrong beak. (edit: thanks to Wanstead Birder and Early Worm Birder for their help. It’s a female stonechat. Like all females, it insists on being “different” just to be awkward.)

Probaby a linnet.

Other than that I did not seen much. Just these:

My feet hurt from all the walking. Serves me right for trying one of the walks in the latest Bird Watching magazine. I’ve been getting it for a year now and they still haven’t been in touch requesting an interview.
