Birds

13 Feb

So I haven’t done much seening of birds lately. This is for several reasons. The reasons are these reasons:

1. Because you all love me I have been making seening at birds too popular and so lots of people have been seening birds and it is becoming too much fun and it is being ruined. So I gave it a rest so you could all realise how rubbish your hobby is and stop so when I go to seen birds I don’t have to seen people.

2. People keep pronouncing the letter “H” “haitch” when it should be pronounced “aitch”. It particularly annoys me because it is stupid people trying not to sound stupid because they normally drop their “h”s, but instead ending up sounding stupid because they can’t pronounce the very letter they are so prone to dropping. Frankly, until these bastards are put to death I can’t bring myself to risk contact with them by doing a going outside.

3. Some birds are boring.

4. I found out scotch eggs are not scottish.

5. Other birds are also boring.

So yeasterday I went to Farlington Marshes. I meant to say “yesterday” not “yeasterday” but I did eat a lot of Marmite yesterday so it seems poetic. Seen these:

“STOP IT!” Colin screeched at his brother. But Simon couldn’t because the brake wires had been cut. Before either of them could prepare themselves they were thrown into a hedge, covered in their ill-gotten soup. Never again would they cheat in a donkey derby.

Also, today I went to Blashford Lakes and saw these things:

Farlington Marshes – Closed

14 Jul

I haven’t been proper bird seening for a while. And I miss it. So on my way home I gone to Farlington Marshes. And it was closed because the wildlife trust are bullying me. Honest. It’s just spite because more people have heard of me than them because I am better at birds.

Closed2 Closed

As a result all the things I saw were either rubbish or too far away and blurry.

Unrelaxing

So this morning I gone down to Bosham Harbour before work. I watched this curlew fruitlessly searching for his contact lens.

It would have been a lovely relaxing start to the day but I was haunted by the apparition of a headless greenfinch doomed to wander the Earth tormenting souls as he himself is tormented. Which left me feeling a bit tense.

Billingshurst

25 Jun

Today I was in Billingshurst. I spent the day seening swifts fly into their nests in St Mary’s Church.

People used to believe that swifts did not have feet. This is because you never seen a swift land on land to stand on land. The real reason you never seen swifts land on land to stand on land is because they all have loads of really awful verrucas that really hurt. Fortunately, hobbies produce Bazuka™ in their saliva. You can often seen swifts happily climbing into the mouths of hobbies for this reason.

Then I gone to Pulborough Brooks to seen if I could seen a barn owl. I did not seen a barn owl. Here are some things I did seen instead.

I just been up Fort Cumberland Open Space hoping to seen a dartford warbler. I didn’t. I seen rubbish stuff instead.

Some sort of warbler. Probably a chiffchaff. They're always chiffchaffs. I never hear them chiff though. Or chaff.

Spoonbill

27 Mar

I just gone right up the Farlington Marshes. I seen a spoonbill. Some people think they are called spoonbills because their bills are spoony. This is not true. In fact, it is very difficult to eat soup with a spoonbill’s bill. Unless it is dead. The real reason they are called spoonbills is that they like to sleep snuggled up next to men called William.
